Slow-Cooked Orange Chicken Drumsticks

  • 2 tsp orange zest
  • 2 tbsp orange juice
  • 3 tbsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 tbsp minced fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 12 Wholesome Farms Direct Source-Verified chicken drumsticks, skin removed
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 tsp toasted sesame seeds

  1. Mix orange zest, orange juice, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, vinegar and crushed red pepper in a small bowl.
  2. Spray a 5-quart slow cooker with cooking spray.
  3. Add drumsticks.
  4. Pour in sauce.
  5. Mix to coat.
  6. Cover and cook 2 to 3 hours on high or 4 hours on low. Remove when instant-read thermometer reads 165 degrees F when inserted into the thickest part of the meat without touching bone.
  7. Set the drumsticks to a bowl.
  8. Pour the liquid in a medium skillet.
  9. Bring to a boil over high heat for 10 to 15 minutes.
  10. Pour the sauce over the drumsticks.
  11. Serve sprinkled with cilantro and sesame seeds.
