Cubed Swiss Steak

Ingredients

  • 6 Wholesome Farms Direct Source-Verified 4-oz. cube steaks
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 large onions (sliced)
  • 1 lb. mushrooms (sliced)
  • Dash of salt

Directions

  1. Season cube steaks generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Melt butter in a large skillet and add onions.
  3. When they are translucent, add the mushrooms, if using, and sauté 10 minutes or until onions have caramelized and mushrooms are nearly cooked, and the water has almost evaporated.
  4. Push the vegetables to one side and add the cubed steaks.
  5. Fry the steaks quickly -- about 2 to 3 minutes per side -- or until done.
  6. Portion cube steaks with caramelized onions and mushrooms on heated plates and drizzle any accumulated juices over the meat.
